I can't find where to purchase XRP in Xumm...
Xumm does not currently have the option to purchase XRP through the app.
So what are my options?
There are several crypto exchanges which deal in XRP.
Some of the bigger players in the crypto exchange space include:
- Gatehub (https://gatehub.net)
- Bitstamp (https://bitstamp.net)
- Uphold (https://uphold.com)
- Kraken (https://kraken.com)
- Bitrue (https://bitrue.com)
If you create an account with one of them, you can purchase XRP via their platform, then send it to your XRP Ledger account managed by Xumm.
Note:
Please make sure that you thoroughly research the crypto exchange that you decide to go with. Each exchange has their own rules and fee structures that you should fully understand before signing up. As well, just because we provided a list of exchanges, it does not mean that we support or endorse any of them in any way. It is entirely up to you to decide which crypto exchange you use.
OK. I bought XRP via an exchange, how do I send it to my Xumm account?
In order to activate an account on the XRP Ledger, you must send at least 10 XRP to it. (Although you can activate with more if you like.)
On the XUMM home screen, there's an r-address displayed for your XRPL account.
You will want to send your XRP to your XRP r-address.
...but it asks me for a destination tag...
Non-custodial (un-hosted) accounts, like the ones managed with Xumm, do not have destination tags/Memo IDs.
If your exchange requires that you enter one, use 12345.
Do you happen to have any examples...?
We have created a couple of articles which explain how to send XRP from various exchanges, but we do not have articles on all of them.
- Sending XRP from Uphold to XUMM (deposit)
- Sending XRP from Bitstamp to XUMM (deposit)
- Sending XRP from Wirex to XUMM (deposit)
- Sending XRP from Crypto.com to XUMM (deposit)
- Sending XRP from Kraken to XUMM (deposit)
If your exchange is not listed above, you might find that Youtube has a couple of examples.
Can I link my bank account directly to Xumm?
Unfortunately no. You can link a bank account to an exchange account though. All of the exchanges listed above provide this service.
What about Xumm Pro Beta? Will I be able to buy XRP with Xumm Pro Beta?
Xumm will soon be getting a fiat on-ramp/off-ramp (deposit, withdraw) feature via Xumm Pro. Our plan is to start providing this service to users in the Netherlands, then slowly expand across Europe. Once we have complete European coverage, we will compile a list of other XRP friendly countries and go from there. You can learn more about Pro Beta here:
